Iowa Rapid Rehousing Project

The Iowa Rapid Rehousing (RRH) Project is a pilot initiative, funded by more than $21 million obligated by Governor Reynolds from the state’s federal Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA2) program allocation, to assist families and individuals quickly exit homelessness and return to permanent housing.

Program Information

The Iowa RRH Project aims to solve the immediate crisis of homelessness, while connecting families or individuals with appropriate community resources to address other service needs. This will be achieved through strengthening Iowa’s:

Coordinated Entry System
Rapid Rehousing Program
- Relocation, rent and utility assistance
- Housing stability services
- Case management

How To Access Help

Please note that individuals may not apply directly to the Iowa Finance Authority for assistance. If you are experiencing homelessness or are at-risk of becoming homeless, the best place to start is the Coordinated Entry system.

Please note that housing resources provided through Coordinated Entry are limited and can only be used for individuals who meet the eligibility criteria. Therefore, completing an assessment does not guarantee housing. To qualify for Coordinated Entry, individuals or families must fall into one of the categories below:

Literally Homeless
- This includes sleeping outdoors or another place not meant for human habitation, in an emergency shelter, or leaving a program/institution without a fixed housing destination
At Imminent Risk of becoming Homeless
- You will lose housing in the next 14 days, have nowhere else to go, and cannot obtain other housing without assistance.
Fleeing or Attempting to Flee from Domestic Violence
- This includes fleeing from sexual assault, stalking, or other dangerous conditions related to violence making it unsafe to return to your primary residence.
