DES MOINES – The Iowa Finance Authority (IFA) recently announced that 22 Iowa mortgage loan officers have earned IFA’s 2024 Preferred Lender designation. IFA Preferred Lenders serve as advocates for Iowans seeking assistance with the homeownership process and have received advanced training in IFA mortgage, down payment and closing costs assistance programs. In addition, six lenders and Realtors® were named IFA Ambassadors for their commitment to advancing financial literacy amongst potential Iowa homebuyers.

“Iowa lenders and Realtors® play a crucial role in helping Iowans achieve homeownership and build wealth and we look forward assisting even more Iowans in realizing their homeownership goals through these valuable partnerships.”
IFA offers affordable mortgage, down payment and closing costs assistance programs for eligible homebuyers through a seamless process with a network of hundreds of valued Participating Partners across the state. Local lenders assisted 2,310 Iowans in purchasing a home using IFA programs in fiscal year 2023.
Many first-time and repeat homebuyers are eligible for IFA programs, with household income limits ranging up to $161,560 and home purchase prices of up to $588,000. Down payment and closing costs assistance options include a $2,500 grant, available to homebuyers using the FirstHome Program, or a 2nd Loan of up to 5% of the home’s sale price.

Iowa lenders and Realtors® in good standing with IFA and that met certain eligibility requirements were eligible to attend the annual Preferred Lender and Realtor® training at the annual HousingIowa Conference in September.
