Sam Erickson is the CEO and co-founder of Community Housing Initiatives, Inc. (CHI).
Community Housing Initiatives, Inc. is Iowa’s largest non-profit affordable housing provider. Since its inception in 1994, CHI has invested nearly $250 million in Iowa, creating or preserving over 1,700 housing units. Ms. Erickson has experience in development of over 75 historic preservation and adaptive re-use projects in Iowa. She has expertise in multiple development approaches including integrating market rate and affordable housing, commercial/retail space and community service facilities.
She has served as an Advisor for the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Preservation Iowa and served on the Iowa’s Most Endangered Properties Nomination Committee. She was a member of the Lt. Governor’s advisory group for Housing for Persons with Disabilities, and Iowa and Governors Vilsack and Culver appointed her to the Citizen Advisory Board for the Iowa Great Places initiative. She has also served on Main Street Iowa’s Advisory Council, the University of Northern Iowa School of Real Estate Advisory Council, and the Historic East Village Board.
