Emergency Solutions Grant

Making an Impact on Homelessness in Iowa

The Emergency Solutions Grant is a federal program of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development designed to assist people to quickly regain stability in permanent housing after experiencing a housing crisis and/or homelessness.

For existing award recipients of the Iowa Emergency Solutions Grant CARES Act first or second allocations (ESG-CV1 or ESG-CV2), the Iowa Finance Authority is requesting applications for a very brief limited reopening. Applications due Feb. 17, 2021, learn more here.

Eligible Applicants

  • Local governments (not to include local public housing authorities)

  • Nonprofit service agencies

Eligible Programming

  • Street Outreach

  • Shelter

  • Homelessness Prevention

  • Rapid Rehousing

Application Process

  • Periodic competitive application

  • May be a Combined application with Emergency Solutions Grant and Shelter Assistance Fund programs

Please note that individuals may not apply directly to the Iowa Finance Authority for assistance. If you are experiencing homelessness or are at-risk of becoming homeless, we encourage you to reach out to a service agency in your area to see what assistance may be available to you.
